Carlton Davis III, Byron Cowart Among Auburn Players Arrested
Four University of Auburn football players were arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges. Sophomores Carlton Davis III, Byron Cowart, Jeremiah Dinson,Ryan Davis face second-degree misdemeanor marijuana-possession charges after being arrested by Auburn police. University of Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement “I’m aware of the situation and we will handle the matter appropriately,”.
Carlton Davis, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback from Miami, is expected to start in Auburn’s secondary this coming season. He was named a freshman All-American after totaling 56 tackles and three interceptions in 2015.
Dinson, a cornerback from Miami, played significantly in the first nine games as a freshman before suffering a serious knee injury. He didn’t participate in spring practice while recovering from torn ligaments in his right knee.
Cowart, from Seffner, Florida, was ranked the No. 1 prospect. He largely struggled as a freshman last season, finishing with six tackles while playing as a reserve defensive lineman.
Ryan Davis, from St. Petersburg, Florida, played in eight games as a freshman. He didn’t record a catch last season, and he gained 28 yards on a run off a trick play.
