Luol Deng Knee Injury May End His Season
Miami Heat star free agent small forward Luol Deng is getting an MRI on his knee on Monday to determine his fate for the remainder of his 2014-15 season. The 29-year-old scored three points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Heat’s 112-89 loss to the Indiana Pacers tonight, and the injury didn’t appear to hamper him during the game. But now his season appears to be in jeopardy.
Deng had dealt with this knee injury toward the end of the regular season, which kept him out of a March 31 game against the San Antonio Spurs, but has otherwise stayed quite healthy in his maiden season in South Beach. The Heat will be hard-pressed to find a viable replacement for Deng while he recovers. Deng is among the better all-around defenders in the NBA and averages over 14 points per contest for a Miami squad that struggles to score.
